Summer Reading 2015 Continues

It is July and we are halfway through our Summer Reading Program. June was a stellar month thanks to all of our great patrons, and our sponsors. July promises to be just as successful!


Scholastic Book Fair

July 13th through the 14th, Ericson Publci Library hosts its first ever Scholastic Book Fair!


We are very excited that the Friends of the Library has partnered with us to bring a Scholastic Book Fair to the Library. Kids participating in the Summer Reading Program have been earning Superhero Bucks, and now is the time to spend them. Want to spend more than just the Superhero Bucks, no problem we will be able to take nearly all forms of payment for the book fair.


Book Fair times: Monday and Tuesday 9-1 and 5-8. Wednesday -Friday 9-1 and 3-6. Saturday 9-3.


The Book Fair will be located in the the 2nd Floor Meeting Room.

Library at the Fair!

The Library and the Book Shoppe invite families to join us at the fair in the Kidz Korner. Families will be able to enjoy storytime, puppets, and science. The Kidz Korner will be in the Commercial Building 1-9 Thursday and Friday, 12-9 Saturday, and 12-6 Sunday.

Summer Reading Pool Party

July 24th, 6:15pm - Summer Reading participants are invited to an all ages pool party at the Boone Municipal Pool.


Adult Books and Events

Outdoor Concert - Monday, July 20 6pm

Ericson Public Library with Forte Studios bring Hawk McIntyre and Justin Elliot to a great summer evening of music. Bring your lawn chair or blanket as we relax in the Garden Square just north of the library.



In case of inclement weather the event will move to the 2nd Floor Meeting Room.

New Adult Non-Fiction

Needlecraft Every Tuesday 6:30pm

Bring your knitting, crochet, quilt, or other project to work on, maybe even learn something new. Meets on 1st Floor, in the Fireplace Room.


New Adult Fiction

Genealogy - July 27 6pm

Join us as we discuss Genealogy Research and the use of Ancestry.com Library Edition. With special guest Pamela Schwartz, Boone County Historical Society Executive Director. Meets in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room.

TnT X-Men Challenge - Friday, July 10 6-8pm

Pizza, Prizes, and Fun!


Test your mettle against Cyclops, Ice Man, Magneto and Professor X!

TnT Fiction

TnT Meeting - Saturday, July 11 11am

Stop in to find out what is going on, and help plan what is happening in the future!


TnT Super Lunch - Tuesdays 11:30am

The TnT Super Lunch is for Teens and Tweens and Sign-up by Noon on the previous Monday for each event is required!



July 14 - Iowa National Guard - Soldiers, Vehicles, and MRE's

July 21 - Double Feature - we close out the Summer Reading Program with a couple of Superhero Movies.

Scholastic Book Fair - Monday July 13th - Saturday July 18th

The week of July 13 your child can get books from Scholastic Book Fair by redeeming their Superhero bucks earned through participating in our summer reading program. Monday and Tuesday 9-1 and 5-8. Wednesday -Friday 9-1 and 3-6. Saturday 9-3.

Iowa League of Superheroes - Saturday July 18th 10am

Batman and Wonder Woman of the Iowa League of Superheroes will be stopping in to help us close out the Scholastic Book Fair.

New Children's Books

Children's Department Special Activities

July 14th - 10:30am - Iowa National Guard - Soldiers and Vehicles


July 15th - 11:30am - (1st - 5th grades) Percy Jackson - Greek hero and villain activities


Storytimes - Every Wednesday and Thursday 10am

July 8 and 9 - Teddy Bear Heroes, be sure to bring your stuffed animals. With a visit from Anna of the Ledges State Park immediately afterwards.


July 15 and 16 - Ocean Heroes

July 22 and 23 - Super Librarian

Family Fun - Tuesdays at 6:30pm

July 14 - Greek Heroes
