May Events and Happenings at the Glendale Public Library

Special Events for Families and Preschoolers in May!

Our regular Storytime programming takes a brief break during the month of May, but that doesn't mean we don't have tons of fun programs for our youngest patrons! Our month kicks off with The World Is 'Beary' Wonderful, a Tell Your Story program that celebrates cultures around the world. Kids ages 5 and younger can hear tales and make story props with an international flair on Tuesday, May 3, 10:15-11:15 AM at the Main Library. The very next day, May 4, at 3:30 PM in the Main Library Auditorium, our friends from Arizona Broadway Theatre will present Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. This classic picture book has been adapted to the stage for an all-ages performance.

Our Foothills Branch is getting in on the fun with everybody's favorite bird, The Pigeon! This star of Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog (among others) will be celebrated, along with his author, Mo Willems, at Mo Willems Storytime & Kindercraft, on Wednesday, May 11 at 11:00 AM. Registration is required for this special event, so click the link above to sign up! Even more fun is to be had at Confetti: Favorite Broadway Songs and Dance, on Saturday, May 14 at 2:00 PM. Come and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment performed by Spotlight Youth Theatre’s performing arts troupe, featuring kids ages 7 to 14, at our Foothills Branch.

Not to be left out, those talented folk at Velma Teague are putting on a puppet show! Wednesday, May 18 at 11:00 AM, come and enjoy Puppets at the Teague! This storytime-themed puppet show will have an encore performance the following night, Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 PM. Don't miss it!

No Capes. No Service.

Teens! It's time to suit up and save the world; or, at least kick off the summer. Come to the Main Library, Saturday, May 27 from 6:00-9:00 PM for No Capes. No Service, a library after-hours event. Bring a friend and compete with other teens, 12-18, in games of skill, wit, and strategy, all to determine who's the most heroic...or villainous! Registration is required for this special event, so click the link above to sign up starting 5/13.
