April News and Events from Glendale Public Library

Libraries Are for Everyone!

We're celebrating National Library Week (April 9-15) all month long! Stop by the service desks to get your Libraries Are for Everyone coloring form and tell us why the library is for you! We'll display the completed forms and artwork throughout the library during the month of April.

Startup School Returns to GPL

Beginning in April, Glendale Public Library's Main Library will be offering a second round of workshops aimed at entrepreneurs. A six-part class, Startup School is a comprehensive and proven framework for developing new business ventures. In a series of facilitated workshops, entrepreneurs learn what they need to do in order to develop a successful startup.

The first session, held on Tuesday, April 4 at 6 PM, is Stage 1.0: Introduction & Overview. This session covers an overview of the startup process from Idea to Profit. It also introduces a key concept of Startup School: the Simplified Business Model Canvas.

Stage 2.0: It All Starts with Ideas is the second workshop in the Startup School series, and will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 6 PM. This session delves more deeply into the Business Model Canvas, and also covers understanding your customers, brainstorming and iteration.

Glass Pendants

Create unique glass pendants with glass fusion instructor Beth Maggio on Saturday, April 22, at 1 PM at the Velma Teague Branch. Glass fusion is a technique that bonds pieces of glass together by melting them at a high temperature. Because it takes a special kiln, participants will design the jewelry in the session, but will need to return to pick up their creations. Click here to register.

Essential Oils for Wellness

Aromatherapy and essential oils have become a trendy way to treat a wide range of conditions, including insomnia, anxiety and pain. On Tuesday, April 25, at 6:30 PM at the Foothills Branch, learn how essential oils can contribute to a healthy lifestyle for you and your family, including natural ways to reduce stress and to enhance wellness. Presented by essential oil educator Suzanne Hegarty, Independent Distributor at Young Living Essential Oils. No registration is required.
