Library News and Events for December 2016

LIBCON West! Glendale Public Library's first Comic-Con is coming!

Spider-Man might visit the Glendale Public Library. So might Batman, Superman, and a wide variety of other comic-related characters. That’s because Glendale Public Library is hosting its first annual library pop-culture convention on December 10, 2016!

LIBCON West was inspired by comic-cons that make appearances at libraries all around the nation. This free event is geared for teens, ages 12 to 18, and will feature panels on a variety of topics, vendors and artists selling their products, a DJ and a dance just for teens, a food cart selling delicious hot dogs, and crafts and activities for teens. The vendors, food cart, and performances on the library lawn are open to all ages.

Confirmed teen authors attending the event include Amy K. Nichols, Aprilynne Pike, and Beth Cato, who will be featured on an author panel to start the day.

This event will be held on Saturday, December 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with vendors and crafts running from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Main Library. Sponsors include Rayner's Chocolate & Coffee Shop and Zinio.

More information can be found at bit.ly/LIBCONWest. With questions, please call 623-930-3530. To become an official sponsor of the event, or if you’re interested in becoming a vendor, please visit: www.libconwest.weebly.com.
