September 2019
Volume VI Issue 9

from the Editor

Summer is drawing to a close and with it comes back to school for our children. While we fondly recall memories of summer - fun on the beach (and reading), lazy afternoons on our decks and in our backyards (and reading), summer vacations (and reading), and of course all that required summer work (and reading) for our young friends - we look to the fall.

With the fall, all of our schedules get busier with school work, driving carpools, coaching (or participating) in sports, etc. Here's are a few suggestions to help you and your children find the time to read: Consider picking up a book of short stories or essays, and then there can be a sense of accomplishment, with out a big commitment! Also, books with short chapters can get your child to read with a realistic time goal! (Read one chapter and then you can play or when you finish that chapter, do your homework, set the table etc)

Remember that we are a trade for credit bookstore, so bring in those summer reads that you have completed - both those for pleasure and those required classics - and we will give you credit towards more used books.

Our new sidelines keep coming into the Shelf! Stop by and check out the new puzzles, book themed socks, journals, literary themed tea candles, and fabulous sun-glass and regular readers!

Please Note: We are OPEN on Labor Day 10 AM - 2 PM!

The Sun Will Rise

A Story of Rising Again After Unimaginable Loss

By: Natalie Scott

I was told of this book on a Friday. I got my hands on a copy on a Sunday and read the whole book in one sitting. If you have lost a child or know someone who has this is a great reflection on getting to one’s new normal. You can feel Natalie’s strength (both personal and in her relationship with God). Well done and thanks for sharing your journey.

Natalie Scott is a local author who will be featured in our Local Author Showcase on January 4, 2020.
