Arizona Songwriters' Gathering Celebrates 21st Year!
Whether you are interested in learning how to pitch your song to the entertainment industry, write for your own enjoyment, or just want to enjoy live, local music, you are welcome to attend. During the event, there will be showcases featuring 70 songwriters, song circles for sharing your original songs, and seminars by noted industry experts on topics as varied as copyright law and how to shoot your own music video. The day culminates in a performance featuring Arizona group D-Squared. Event organizer Lon Austin says, "This husband and wife duo create astonishing soundscapes with their instruments. Teen Book Clubs Take Off in the New Year
Teen Librarian Erin Gerrard is hoping to bring some magic to teen reading in 2017. "The Harry Potter series turns 20 this year," says Gerrard. "It's a perfect time to re-read the series, and introduce it to a new generation of teens." The Pizza and Pages book club will be reading the entire seven-volume series, one volume each month, leading up to Harry Potter's "birthday" in July 2017. The celebration kicks off starting Wednesday, January 25 at 6 PM, with the series opener Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
