Eclipse Parties, text notifications, and going batty

Both the Elizabeth and Simla Libraries are facilitating parties for the The All-American Solar Eclipse on August 21st. Pines & Plains Libraries received hundreds of free eclipse-viewing safety glasses for FREE. The Elizabeth Library has partnered with Viaero Wireless and Elizabeth Parks and Recreation to provide the community event at Casey Jones park. Viaero Wireless has sponsored snacks, and the library will provide crafts for young, aspiring astronomers. The Simla party will take place in the library parking lot. Attendees will enjoy snacks, games, crafts, races, music, and a piñata competition before the eclipse. Both events take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy this once in a lifetime event with your community and make a fantastic memory.

P&PL hired Marie in January of 2010. She has worked at the Elizabeth and Kiowa libraries, as well as the Singing Hills fire station branch we had a few years back. Using her degree in art, Marie has hosted many creative and engaging children’s programs. She formed Elizabeth Library’s knitting group too. The team appreciates her efforts to get items from all over the state by way of Interlibrary Loan.
