Happy Holidays from Taneyhills!

December 2018 News & Events

2018 Has Been Good to Taneyhills!

This past year has been full of surprises. That's what makes working here so much fun. The volunteers in the Thrift Shop and the Bookstore do an amazing job of processing the donations. There is much excitement when they have a big day of selling or when a significant donation is delivered. The overall quality of merchandise we receive is amazing. Many locals and tourists claim we have the best resale shops in Branson.

For the library, we are motivated by grants and monetary donations. We have been blessed this year. It is encouraging to have the community realize what a library can offer. The Hollister Rotary, the Skaggs Foundation, and the Stanley & Elaine Ball Foundation provided financial support for large print books, healthcare materials, and funding for our children's library and programs.

We also have a few individuals that made significant contributions and we are most grateful. You can expect to hear exciting news in 2019.

As the year ends, please consider a contribution to Taneyhills. We depend on donations, grants, and fees from library services. The Ball grant in 2015 certainly helped move us toward providing the services a first class county deserves, but we still have more to do.

From all of the Taneyhills' volunteers and staff, we wish you Happy Holidays!

Red Cross Volunteer Opportunities Tuesday, December 18, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Are you looking for a way to get involved with the Red Cross and help our community? A Red Cross Volunteer Recruiter will be at Taneyhills Library on Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 5:30-6:30PM.

Opportunities for blood ambassadors, disaster action team volunteers, smoke alarm installers, and service to armed forces are just a few of their projects. This is a good way to learn more about the Red Cross.

New Health and Wellness Books Now Available

Thanks to a grant from the Skaggs Foundation Legacy Endowment, we have been able to purchase several hundred new books related to health and wellness. We've also included titles on relationship management, parenting, and substance abuse.

Quote of the Month

When it was mentioned to a new resident that Taneyhills is not a city or county supported service, her comment was, "Isn't there a state law that requires tax support for libraries?"

Not in Missouri!
