Bill of Rights Exhibit Rescheduled

Los Lunas Museum of Heritage & Arts

Because of a shipping delay in Washington, D.C. the arrival of the "Amending America: The Bill of Rights" exhibit has been delayed.

"Amending America: The Bill of Rights" exhibit from the National Archives will now open to Museum of Heritage & Arts visitors on Thursday, December 22nd. The Open House for the exhibit has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 7th.

About the exhibit:
December 15th, 2016 marks the 225th anniversary of the Ratification of the Bill of Rights. To commemorate the occasion, the National Archives created the exhibit "Amending America: The Bill of Rights." In conjunction with a national exhibit in Washington D.C., a traveling exhibit has been making its way around the country this year.

Because of the generosity and hard work of the New Mexico Humanities Council, Los Lunas Museum of Heritage & Arts has the privilege of presenting the exhibit to our community.

"Amending America" is presented in part by the National Archives Foundation through the generous support of AT&T, the Seedling Foundation, the New Mexico Humanities Council and the Museum of Heritage & Arts.

About the Open House:
To celebrate, come join us for an open house Saturday, January 7th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Check out the interactive Bill of Rights Exhibit and enjoy light refreshments. In addition, take advantage of the opportunity to watch a video featuring a panel discussion with some of the top Bill of Rights scholars in the country. The video was recorded at the National Archives to kick off the opening of the "Amending America" national exhibit. The panelists discuss the history surrounding the proposal of the Bill of Rights and the implications the precedent of amending the Constitution had at the time and on the subsequent process of forming "a more perfect union" over the past 225 years.
